| General |
How do I sign up for a Wizz-it site?
To sign up for a Wizz-it site simply go to: www.wizz-it.com/www/five.html and follow the steps! |
What do I need for a Wizz-it site?
All you need for a Wizz-it website is a computer connected to the internet! Wizz-it.com is a completely web-based service so all you need is a reasonably up-to-date web browser such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari etc. |
How unique can I make my Wizz-it site?
You can make your Wizz-it site totally unique, using the Wizz-it control panel you can choose your own colour combinations (not select from a pre-decided colour combination as our competitors do), select different designs, upload your own logos, pictures, text, background images and many more things. You aren't forced you to display our brand logo or use our domain name... infact there will be no indication at all that your website is a Wizz-it website. Our ultimate goal is for you to able to create almost any design, layout, and function of a website directly from the Wizz-it control panel. |
Will my site look any different to visitors than if it was custom made for me?
Not at all. You choose your layouts, styles, and upload your own content. You use your own domain name and our logo won't appear anywhere on your website. The website will not appear any different than any custom made one. |
Do I need to download any software to use a Wizz-it website?
No, there is no need for you to install any software or rent any hosting space. All our software and data is located on the Wizz-it servers which makes life a lot simpler for you! |
What browsers do you support?
Wizz-it's websites are accessible to all browsers. We support the latest versions of Mozilla, Internet Explorer, Safari and Firefox. However we strongly recommend keeping your browser up-to-date with the latest release which is always available for free at their website. This will ensure the websites you view will always look their best aswell as keeping your computer as secure as possible, vulnerabilities are constantly found in older browsing platforms that could allow malicious websites to run programs on your machine. |
Why does my site look different on other computers?
Having a website look the same on different browsers has been an ongoing issue for the web designers all over the world. The reason is simple - the visualization of a website depends on many different variables such as: |
What operating systems do you support?
We support any operating system that can run any modern web browser such as Internet explorer, Firefox, Safari or Mozilla. This includes operating systems such as Windows, Macintosh, and Linux platforms. |
How much storage and bandwidth to I get with my Wizz-it site?
Every Wizz-it site is allocated 20Mb of storage space for free and 1GB bandwidth per month. This means you can have an enourmous amount of visitors to your site each month. You most probably will never need to increase this but if you do you can buy more in ‘Buy/Review’ area found along the top of the Wizz-it control panel |
Why am I experiencing problems using Wizz-it?
It could be that you have pop up's disabled on your internet browser, this would mean that you woudln't be able to use a lot of the functions found in the Wizz-it control panel. Temporarily disable the pop up blocker in your web browser (in Internet Explorer this means clicking on ‘Tools’ then ‘Popup Blocker’). Also Google, AOL and Yahoo toolbars have popup blockers which should be set up to allow pop ups from Wizz-it. |
How do I know when my website has gone live?
Once you've signed up for a Wizz-it website your domain will be active around 12-24 hours later. However it could be as little as 5 hours so we recommend you set your 'Under Construction' setting to on to prevent your website going live before you want it to. When you are happy and ready to go live, or if you want to change from the default message of 'This website is under construction' just go to the 'settings' tab in your control panel and click on the 'Under Construction' link and follow the instructions. |
Can I set my site to Under Construction until I'm ready to go live?
Yes you can. To do this just go to the Under Construction page. You can find this under the Settings tab and select Under Construction from the drop down menu. You can also enter an optional message to display. |
| Search Engines |
How long does it take to get into Google?
Search engines add new sites to their index by crawling them periodically. On average Google takes around 6 weeks to 2 months for their crawler to 'find' your website, annoyingly there is nothing you can do to speed this up. Some people suggest submitting your website to google will speed this up however we've heard reports that this can actually slow the process down as google thinks it must not be very important otherwise their crawlers would have found it already. |
Why can I not find my page on Google?
There are two answers to this question: either google's crawlers haven't found your website yet (in which case read the answer above) or your site is getting such bad listings that you can't seem to find it. The way to answer this question is to go to www.google.com and type in 'allinurl:' followed by your domain name. If your website appears in the results list then Google has found your site and you need to take action to improve your rankings. The answer below will help you with this. If your website does not appear then google has simply not 'found' your website yet and you need to wait a while longer. |
How do I verify my site with Google Webmaster Tools
To verify your site with Google Webmaster Tools, follow these steps: |
How do I get better rankings in search engines?
The Wizz-it team is fanatical about ensuring your site can be optimally crawled and indexed by major search engines, we make sure our sites have clean XHTML, proper tagging, and proper META information — all of which is essential to helping web crawlers find and index your site properly. However there are a few things that you can do to improve your ranking, the most important ones are listed below: |
What are Search Engine Optimization (SEO) services?
SEO services are companies that are dedicated to improving your ranking on the search engines. Check Google's SEO Information page for more information. |
Can I advertise on Google?
Although Google never accepts money to include or rank sites in their main search results, they do have a program called Google Adwords which reaches people actively looking for information related to the product or services offered by your website, and sends targeted visitors directly to your website. AdWords uses cost-per-click pricing, which means you pay only when people click on your ad. There is a nominal, one-time activation fee for Google AdWords. After that you pay only for clicks on the AdWords ads, which you control by telling Google how much you are willing to pay per click and per day. With AdWords, ads for your website appear alongside or above results on Google search results pages for Google Web search, Google Groups, and the Google Directory. |
Where can I insert my Google Analytics (or other tracking Javascript) code into
You add code that will appear between the <head> tags for your site within the [Website Management > Structure > Website Settings > Code Injection, under "Extra Header Code."] area of your site manager. This region will not accept invalid HTML, so please remember to close single tags properly. (What we mean is: tags that look like <meta something="something"> should actually be <meta something="something"/> — note the /> on the end.) |
Why can I not store my keywords anywhere to increase my search engine ranking?
No major search engine has used keywords when deciding a website's ranking for half of a decade, therefore we have omitted it as it is totally obsolete. Please consult Google's resources if you're wondering how modern search engines rank websites. |
What is the meta description tag used for?
Although the website descriptions are not a major factor search engines consider when ranking sites, we still recommend you fill them in. The website description is intented to be a brief and concise summary of your page's content. It is displayed on the search engines' results page underneath your site title and therefore can be useful in enticing people to your website. |
